KOTA KINABALU: About 25 members from the Ford Ranger Club Borneo Region led by Julius Jeremiah Sidin together with groups from the tourism related industries and social media tourism group delivered drinking water and provisions to villagers badly affected by the recent mud flood in Kota Belud.

Julius voluntarily coordinated his team for the visit by bringing more than 700 boxes of mineral water for distribution directly to the affected villages and a few schools in the same district.

Brenda Jane Yandaman who led the other groups, said that she got to know the plea from one volunteer, Maya from SMK Arshad who was taking the lead to find ways to assist those people who are in dire need of water.

“I read her plea in the social media. Therefore, we acted on it immediately. Apart from extending our assistance to the villagers, we also help those schools which face shortage of water like SMK Narinang and SMK Tombulion,” explained Brenda.

“We want to help these victims by easing their burden when they face any disaster. It took us barely a day or two to arrange for the donation to reach the target group.”

She urged the appropriate authorities to be always on alert mode and on standby all the time for any calamities so that any assistance can be channelled and delivered to the victims at the right time.
