KAPIT: Road users have called on the authorities concerned to repair a section of Jalan Bukit Goram, which collapsed due to soil erosion.

A passenger van driver, who did not wish to be named, said the section is roughly half a kilometre from the Sungai Sesibau bridge just before Kampung Cina.

A Taman Goram Height resident, who only wished to be identified as Liew, said the section of road had collapsed due to riverbank erosion earlier in the year.

“A few months ago it was highlighted in the newspapers. Following that, the authorities erected a signboard to warn of the danger. However, no remedial work was carried out to repair the road surface.

“Recently, it has become worse as the soil erosion has increased. We’re so worried if the situation is left unchecked, the whole stretch would collapse and cut off transportation,” she
said.

Jalan Bukit Goram connects Jalan Antaroh and Jalan Ulu Sungai Yong to Kapit town.

Other roads affected by soil erosion here are the junction of Jalan Selirik and Jalan Rumah Engking as well as at Kampung Baru, Jalan Suhaili.
