TENOM: Police here have confirmed the image of a youth which has been spreading in social sites like Facebook and WhatApps is a rape suspect wanted by the police.
District police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohamad Firdaus Abdullah said the suspect who is still at large, was identified as 21-year-old Mazllan Majed whose last known address is at Tenom Lama road here.
“The suspect raped an underage girl in the Labuan Federal Territory recently,” he said here yesterday.
Firdaus asked people who have information of the suspect to immediately report to the nearest police station or Labuan police station at 087-412-222.
He also reminded the public not to speculate negatively on the rape case as it could interfere with the police investigation.
Firdaus also requested the public not to take the law into their own hand if they come across the suspect.
“Let the police handle this case,” he said.
