JAPEM Continued its Charitable Role in Helping Underprivileged Families

BRUNEI-MUARA: The Community Development Department (JAPEM) continues to play its role in assisting the underprivileged and special needs people. The contributions to the needy and special needs people in the holy month of Ramadhan are among the activities conducted in helping the recipients in their preparations for the forthcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Five families in the Brunei-Muara District have been selected to receive the donation yesterday, ©BRUDIRECT.COM reported.

The contributions were handed over by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hazair bin Haji Abdullah, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.

Yang Berhormat Pehin and delegation also visited the residence of Awang Abdul Rahman bin Haji Amat alias Mohamed in Kampung Kasat. The contribution was received by Abdul Rahman’s wife as he was undergoing a therapy at Gleneagles, Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) at the time. Awang Abdul Rahman is unemployed and living with his wife and four children.

The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports and the delegation then visited the home of Dayang Rohani binti Emran in Kampung Perpindahan Rimba to hand over a contribution to her. Dayang Rohani is on a respiratory aid after an accident that affected her spinal cord and lungs.

Yang Berhormat Pehin and the delegation also handed over contributions to several other recipients in Kampung Tanah Jambu and Kampung Sungai Hanching. The contributions were in the form of basic food items and Hari Raya Hampers.

Also joining the delegation was Datin Paduka Hajah Adina binti Othman, Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
