SIBU: Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) yesterday gave six bins for recyclable refuse to University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS).

Its deputy chairman Dato Andrew Wong handed over the bins to UCTS vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Abdul Hakim Juri at UCTS campus here.

In his speech, Wong said SMC was willing to cooperate with UCTS in efforts to conserve and protect the environment.

He commended UCTS for nurturing green concept among its students through the setting up of the Green Club.

Abdul Hakim, on the other hand, said UCTS received the provisional Green Building Index (GBI) Platinum rating, making it the first higher education institution in the country to be accorded such recognition.
