JULAU: The Sarawak For Sarawakians (S4S) team is touring the state to share the movement’s ideology and sell S4S merchandise.

S4S volunteers Beng Kor and Ting Ching Ing have been covering towns and settlements along the Rajang River. On their list are Sibu, Kanowit, Majan, Bintagor, Sarikei, Daro, Mukah, Selangau and Kapit.

“We are doing this for two purposes. One is to create awareness of Sarawak’s history and the referendum rights of Sarawakians,” Kor told the BAT Team here yesterday.

“The other purpose is to sell S4S souvenirs to help pay for travelling expenses incurred. And until now, business has been okay and we have been making enough to continue our journey.” According to him ‘Sarawak For Sarawakians’ is not a new slogan.

“Most Sarawakians resented joining Malaya to form the Federation of Malaysia. The Cobbold Commission, which surveyed only 2,000 people, did not represent what most people wanted,” he claimed.  He said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem is also moving

towards greater autonomy by bringing up issues such as the oil royalty.

“He (Adenan) is doing this because he is responding to the voices of the Sarawak people. So are we,” said Kor.
