One of the two sawmills raided.
SERIAN: Sarawak Forest Department (SFD) Preventive and Enforcement Division made two raids in Serian division on Friday and yesterday.
During the first raid, the department seized a total of 300 pieces of sawed wood at an illegal saw mill located at Ulu Sungai Kedup.
According to SFD, the case is still under investigation. The mill will be charged under Section 66 of the Forest Ordinance, 1958.
Another raid, at an illegal saw mill located at Jalan Tebakang Melayu, netted 52 logs of various species, 72 ‘batak’ wood and 300 sawed wood which were confiscated.
The value of all the wood seized during the two raids was believed to be estimated at RM80,000.
