KENINGAU: Umno Sabah liaison chairman Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman has called on Umno members to enhance their solidarity and help one another for the common good.

He said problems, if any, should be resolved in a good way and they should work together and foster understanding among each other.

“Sincerity is extremely important in our struggles in order to maintain a sense of belonging among leaders and members of the party, the Barisan Nasional (BN) and the people,” he said in his speech at the breaking of fast organised by Umno Zone 4 here at Kampung Bayangan Al-Dzilal mosque yesterday.

Some 2,000 people attended the event, including Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Yahya Hussin, Housing and Urban Well-being Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan, Assistant Agriculture and Food Industry Minister cum Umno Keningau chief Datuk Haji Sairin Karno, Umno Pensiangan chief Datuk Abdul Ghani Yassin and Kemabong assemblyman cum Umno Tenom chief Datuk Rubin Balang.

Musa, who is also Sabah Chief Minister, said that breaking of fast has become a tradition of Umno in the party’s six zones in the state. The goal, he said, is to reinforce the friendship between the leaders and party members, the BN coalition and the people and forge a sense of belonging in the month of Ramadan.

“I ask that we continue to work hard and pray to the Almighty that through His grace we would be able make donations to those who are in need of help from us,” Musa said.

This is a noble effort and a blessing in the holy month of Ramadan to give contributions to those less fortunate, single mothers, the elderly, disabled and orphans, he said.

According to Musa, the noble intention of Umno Sabah is to be responsible for the people and to foster a feeling of brotherhood among them through this event.

“The leadership in Umno and BN has a responsibility to especially solve the problems of the people of this state. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak has often advised Umno leaders to always reach out to the people in efforts to further strengthen unity and political stability to ensure Malaysia will continue to be peaceful and can provide benefits to the people,”he said.

He also hoped that the leaders of Umno and BN will continue to work together to carry out tasks in the interest of the people and this state.

At the event, Musa presented contributions from the Sabah Zakat Centre to ten secondary and primary schools. He also presented donations in the form of prayer mats (sejadah) to Al-Dzilal mosque and ten less fortunate individuals.

Umno Keningau Youth chief Nik Nadzri Nik Zawawi presented a donation of RM10,000 for the earthquake victims in Ranau, RM5,000 for earthquake victims in Kota Belud, RM5,000 to help the fire victims at Kampung Tanjung Bahagia in Kudat and handed a hemodialysis machine costing RM46,640 to the Keningau hospital.

Also present were Datuk Masidi Manjun and Datuk Seri Panglima Salleh Tun Said.
