KUCHING: Eversendai Corporation Bhd (Eversendai) has secured new contracts through its subsidiary companies in Malaysia, India and United Arab Emirates (UAE) to surpass the RM1 billion mark for new projects secured in the first half of 2015 (1H15).

The company in a press statement yesterday said among the contracts secured were the installation of structural steel, metal deck and shear studs as well as connection design, detailing and temporary engineering for Dhirumbai Ambani International Convention and Exhibition Centre in India.

In the meantime, Eversendai also announced new projects worth RM250 million, which was the second contract secured by Eversendai, after being awarded the fabrication contract worth RM184 million in January 2015.

It was also awarded the contract for the construction of a high-end, luxury residential project located on a one-acre land in Worli, Mumbai, India.

The group’s scope of work for the sea-facing property includes core and shell, finishing, mechanical, electrical and plumbing as well as external development works and is scheduled to be completed in February 2017.

Eversendai said it continues to strengthen its foothold in the Middle East by securing the connection design, fabrication, metal decking, supply, erection and fireproofing of steel works contract for a theme park in the UAE.

The group also marked another milestone in its involvement in the oil and gas (O&G) and marine sector by netting the fabrication contract of skid shoes for Umm Lulu Gas Treatment Platform in Abu Dhabi, with a total weight of over 1,200 tonnes.

On the local front, Eversendai secured a package for the Pengerang co-generation plant contract at the Rapid Complex in Pengerang, Johor.

Meanwhile, Eversendai’s executive chairman and group managing director Tan Sri AK Nathan said,“We have had a very positive outlook for the 1H15 by securing projects worth over RM1 billion.

“We anticipate winning more contracts from our current tender book of over RM23 billion and we will continue to aggressively pursuit a substantial number of commercial and infrastructure projects in the Middle East, India and Malaysia.

“It has always been our commitment to grow our business regionally and globally and necessary strategies are being undertaken, including the expansion of our fabrication facility in Sharjah, UAE to accommodate the contracts that we have already secured as well as those in the pipeline,” he said.

“We will also relentlessly strengthen our position in the new sectors, especially our venture into the O&G and marine industry.

“We are beginning to see positive development in this sector, which substantiates our decision to diversify our business and expertise.

“We have bid for O&G contracts worth over RM11 billion in Malaysia and the Middle East whilst the construction of our sixth plant in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE is progressing well and is expected to be completed by October 2015.

“This would certainly help us intensify our progression into the upstream market.”

Eversendai reported results for the financial year ended 31 December 31, 2014 with a total revenue of RM1 billion and profit after tax of RM36.4 million as compared to a total revenue and profit after tax of RM965.1 million and RM32.7 million respectively in 2013.
