KUCHING: A total of 50 orphans and poor individuals received contributions from Federal Agricultural and Marketing Authority (Fama) in conjunction with Ramadan at Medan Niaga Satok here yesterday.

Tourism Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg presented the contribution to the recipients from Satok and Tupong constituencies in the presence of Fama deputy director Sharifah Hashim as well as other guests.

According to one of the organising committee members, the contribution was a show of love and respect towards one another. It also eased some of the burden of the needy recipients.

Apart from the contribution, Fama also prepared 550 ‘bubur pedas’ for distribution to members of the public who patronised the bazaar.

Bubur pedas is a traditional porridge served during Ramadan after Muslims end their fast.

Abang Johari, who is Satok assemblyman, also visited the Ramadan bazaar and presented aprons and caps to all 76 stall operators.

The aprons and caps were sponsored by Central Coldstorage Kuching Sdn Bhd.
