BRUNEI-MUARA: Muslims, particularly parents in the country, must have the confidence that sending their children to learn at the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Tahfiz Al-Quran will not be a loss. The Minister of Religious Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr. Haji Mohammad bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman, pointed out that life on earth would be meaningless without the guidance of the divine revelations and Al-Quran. The Minister of Religious Affairs was speaking at the MABIMS Member Nations Level Memorisation and Interpretation of Al-Quran Musabaqah ceremony.
The Religious Affairs Minister said, since the establishment of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Tahfiz Al-Quran, the country has successfully produced many huffaz or people who memorise Al-Quran from only one person in the early 1990s to 30 people. Many of the Hafiz Al-Quran are now serving in various fields along with other members of the community.
He hoped that the community would continue to send their children to study at the Institute as Hafiz Al-Quran produced by the country are highly valuable assets to the nation.
The two-day Musabaqah began yesterday with four participants presented their readings in the category for memorising 30 Juzuk of Al-Quran as well as interpretation of Juz 20. Eight participants form MABIMS member countries took part in this year’s Musabaqah. The result of the competition will be announced at the National Nuzul Al-Quran celebration ceremony this tomorrow.
