MIRI: A man found the dead bodies of his daughter and son-in-law lying near each other in the living room of their house at Senadin here at about 5pm yesterday.

According to police, the man had gone to the house to check on his daughter and her family after failing to contact them in the morning.

Police rushed to the scene after the man lodged a police report at 6.30pm.

The victims have been identified as Wenceslaus Taikim, 50, a workshop manager, and Serina Puyang Anyi , 39.

According to acting Miri police chief, Superintendent Stanley Jonathan Ringgit, police found a piece of wire tied around Wenceslaus’ neck, while there were several stab wounds on Serina’s body.

There was no sign of break-in at the house and nothing seemed to have been stolen.

The couple had a son aged 13 and an 11-year-old daughter. They were in school when the incident occurred.

Stanley said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
