KUALA LUMPUR: SEGi University and Colleges recently welcomed Troy University from Alabama, United States as a new partner under its American Degree Program (ADP).
Troy University’s senior vice chancellor (Academic Affairs) Prof Dr Earl Ingram paid his first visit to the country yesterday to oversee the implementation of the new 4+0 partnership at SEGi’s five campuses.
Ingram, who represented Troy University chancellor Dr Jack Hawkins Jr met with students and parents while witnessing the delivery of the programme at SEGi.
“Our commitment to the students in this region and to our newest international partner SEGi is that we will bring the best of our faculty, the most current knowledge and the most effective teaching methods within reach here in Kuala Lumpur and keeping it affordable,” the vice chancellor said when delivering Hawkin’s speech during the event to commemorate the visit.
Present at the event were SEGi’s Group chief operating officer Robert Antonides, SEGi University’s deputy vice chancellor Prof Dr Patrick Kee, SEGi College Kuala Lumpur principal Dr Doris Pamela Alexius, SEGi College Sarawak principal Ivy Lau, SEGi College Subang Jaya deputy principal Sue Ann Chok and SEGi College Kota Damansara principal Dr See Hoon Peow.
According to a press statement, SEGi has years of experience in offering quality American degree programmes to enable young Malaysians to pursue their American dreams at an affordable range. It is one of the few private higher institutions in Malaysia to offer a 4+0 programme.
Now, with a rich legacy of 128 years of educating young Americans in their main campus in Troy, Alabama, Troy University joins the league of renowned overseas partner universities to offer their exclusive programmes to students at SEGi.
“With this partnership, Malaysians can now pursue an American education without having to leave Malaysia. However, there is also the opportunity to complete their studies by either pursuing 2+2 or 1+3 options, so students get to gain additional valuable experiences at the actual Troy University campus in the USA,” the statement continued.
Troy University is an accredited member of the Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and also the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in the USA.
This is Troy University’s only partnership with a Malaysian higher learning institution.
