Trader fined RM60,000 for illegal LPG dealings

ALOR GAJAH: A trader was fined RM60,000 or two months in prison by the Sessions Court here yesterday for dealing in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) without a licence last March.

Nor Azni Arshad@ Roslan, 36, pleaded guilty before judge Nariman Badruddin to dealing in about 22,049 kg of LPG illegally at Lot 1614B, Light Industrial Zone, Pulau Sebang here at 4.15 pm on March 6.

The charge under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961, punishable under Section 21(1) of the same Act, carries a fine of not more than RM100,000 or imprisonment of not more than three years, or both, upon conviction.

Prosecuting officer Sallim Wahid represented the Domestice Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry while Nor Azni was unrepresented. — Bernama
