KUCHING: The Boulevard Fun Ride 2015 second edition will be held on Aug 9.

The ride, with a distance of 24km, is open to all ages. Registration is free and can be made online at www.boulevard.my/funride before Aug 1.

The event will start at 6am from Boulevard shopping mall’s outdoor car park to Kuching Sentral via Jalan Datuk Amar Kalong Ningkan and circle back to the Kuching International Airport before making a right turn to Jalan Stutong Baru for the first pit-stop.

From there, cyclists will head to BDC via Jalan Stutong and make their way to Jalan Tun Jugah, Jalan Tabuan, turn left into Jalan Tan Sri Ong Kee Hui and on to Jalan Taman Budaya.

They will then head to Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg (Saberkas) and make their way back to the mall via Jalan Rock and the third mile roundabaout.

“A gentle reminder to all is that this is a ‘No Helmet, No Ride’ event, so make sure every participant has their own gear ready for the flag-off,” said Boulevard Shopping Mall manager (function and marketing) Alecia Lam during announcement at the mall yesterday.

She also said this is the second year that Boulevard Shopping Mall is working with event partner, D’Valentine Event Management after the overwhelming response last year.

“This year we are expecting more than 500 participants. Besides the Fun Ride, there will also be a series of games, performances and health talk for all cyclists and non-cyclists at the outdoor car park,” added Lam.

She said each cyclist will be given a goodie bag at the finishing line.

Meanwhile the event, part of the Boulevard Health Month 2015 held throughout August, will also see the Boulevard 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament on Aug 14 and 15.

There will be four categories: Men 21 and below, Men 18 and below, Men 15 and below and Men 12 and below.

“This is the eighth year that the mall organises this event. However, a bit of a twist is added whereby the tournament will be held at night to avoid the hot sun,” said Lam.

A Health Awareness Mini Expo will also be held at the mall’s new wing on Aug 20 to 23 to emphasise on a better and healthier lifestyle to the community.

Those who are interested to set up booths to provide services or sell products at the expo are advised to call the mall’s function and marketing team.

Other upcoming events jointly organised with Borneo Bodybuilding Supplement (BBS) will be the Mr Boulevard and Mr BBS Fitness which are bodybuilding competitions.
