KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday welcomed the denial issued by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak over allegations that he (Najib) had received money from several entities said to be linked to government investment company 1Malaysia Development Bhd.

The Deputy Prime Minister said he was confident that the authorities would carry out a thorough, transparent and impartial probe into the allegations to find the truth.

“While the probe is being conducted, I urge all parties to remain calm,” he said in a statement here.

Najib, in a statement Friday night, stressed, among others, that he had never taken money from any government-linked company or any other entity for personal gain.

He said the allegations were a political sabotage to remove him as the prime minister who had been democratically elected. — Bernama
