Police investigate hit-run case, woman killed

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: Traffic Unit Police in Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan, is investigating the case of a traffic accident, allegedly hit and run, caused a woman died at the scene, Antaranews reported.

“The case continues that we follow up with investigation and search for information to reveal who the perpetrator of hit and run with the victim died,” said the head of the Tanah Bumbu Traffic Police unit AKP Irwan Kurniadi SIK in Batulicin Sunday.

He said police had done the crime scene that occurred at Jalan Poros in the village of Karang Bintang RT 01 KM 05 precisely on the Karang Bintang bridge and secured a black pickup with plate number DA 9526 ZF.

Irwan said the chronology of events a black pick up DA 9526 ZF driven by unknown perpetrator coming from the direction of Karang Bintang towards Kusan Hulu, Saturday (4/7) at around 13:30.

When passing the bend, the car swerved to the right path to a collision with a blue Yamaha Xeon DA 6123 ZW driven by the victim, Dewi Retno Irawati, who died at the scene. The victim rode with Hesti Sumaryanti who is now in serious injuries.

From information received by the police, the offender was arrested by the community. But perpetrator feel frightened by the public raging, then managed to escape to local police, he said.

After being checked by traffic police at the police station it turned out to be nothing, and to date the perpetrator entered in People Search (DPO) in Tanah Bumbu Police.
