KUCHING: Tourism Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg yesterday received a courtesy call from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Kota Samarahan rector Datuk Professor Dr Jamil Hamali.

The visit at Wisma Sultan Tengah by Jamil was to invite Abang Johari to officiate the sixth International Research Symposium on Service Management (IRSSM-6).

According to Jamil, the symposium to be held at Riverside Majestic Hotel from Aug 11 to 15 will highlight various rising issues on service and management.

“Around 115 working papers will be presented by representatives from 17 countries, two professional speakers are expected to make their presence and deliver their speech,” said Jamil to members of the press after the courtesy visit.

Among notable speakers expected to attend the symposium are Prof Dr Jochen Wirtz and Prof Dr Jay Kandampully from the United States and Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr Hamid Bugo from Sarawak.

“Therefore we would like to extend the invitation to business owners and the corporate sector to participate in the symposium, thus improving the service management sector in the country.” he said.

Also present during the courtesy visit yesterday were Prof Dr Firdaus Abdullah and Prof Dr Voon Boo Ho from UiTM Kota Samarahan.
