SIBU: Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) Sibu branch recently held ‘Majlis Ngiling Bidai’ (closing of Gawai Dayak ceremony) at Good Happiness Restaurant here with a host of programmes and lucky draws.

Present to officiate at the ceremony was Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang.

Among those in attendance were Tamin assemblyman Datuk Joseph Mauh, Ngemah assemblyman Alexander Vincent, Temenggong Stanley Gramong, SDNU secretary-general Dato Alice Jawan and SDNU Sibu branch chairman Tengku Gruna.

Among the programmes were presentation of study incentives to members’ children who excelled in last year’s public examinations, presentation of prizes to winners of various competitions, ‘Kuntau’ (Iban martial arts) demonstration, cultural dances and singing.

There was also a presentation of a cheque amounting to RM5,000 from SDNU Sibu branch for SDNU’s Education Trust Fund.

It was handed over by Tengku to Alice, witnessed by Jabu and others.
