KUALA LUMPUR: An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale hit East of Kuril Islands at 1.27 pm today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department in a statement here said the quake’s epicentre was 465km northeast of Asahikawa, Japan, and 5,130km northeast of Kudat, Sabah.
However, the statement said, no tsunami threat was reported.-BERNAMA
