MIRI: The people have been urged to help the state government realise its goal of attaining zero squatter status by 2020.

SUPP Piasau branch chairman Datuk Sebastian Ting said since Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem has proven himself effective as the state’s chief executive, it was only right that all Sarawakians support his leadership.

“Our chief minister wants to curb corruption and achieve zero squatter status by 2020. Since he has been working extremely hard for the benefit of the people, it is only right that all of us fully support him,” said Ting at a ‘Ngiling Tikai’ (closing of Gawai celebrations) ceremony at Pujut Corner on Sunday.

On the 1Malaysia low cost housing initiative, he said 800 new units of houses were coming up in Kuala Baram.

He advised squatters to apply for this affordable housing through the relevant authority.

“We are also looking forward to more affordable housing projects here because ideally every family should have a house of their own.” Those who have problems applying for affordable houses are advised to approach SUPP Piasau branch for assistance.
