SIBU: A suspected road bully who posed as a policeman and pointed a gun at a driver in Salim Road at 4pm Monday was remanded for two days yesterday.

The incident happened from just a honk of a car of a 22-year-old driver when the road bully, identified as a 34-year-old jobless man, was trying to cut across his path as he exited a lane into Lanang Road.

This led the road bully to chase the car to Salim Road, and when both got out of their cars the suspect identified himself as a policeman.

He pushed the 22-year-old, shouted at him and pointed a gun at him, saying he could harm him and the woman in his car.

The frightened driver lodged a report.

In less than two hours, the police managed to track down the suspect.

According to the younger driver, he was taking his wife to a cake shop in Salim when he drove up to Lanang Road.

The road bully had an elder woman in his car when he turned out of a lane into Lanang Road.

The younger driver said he had honked to avoid a collision.

Although the road bully stopped to let the younger driver pass, he nevertheless chased after him and overtook him at Salim Road.

The younger driver then turned into a commercial centre where the road bully signalled him to stop.

The younger driver said when the road bully identified himself as a policeman, he became scared and repeatedly apologised to the ‘policeman’.

He said when the road bully pointed the gun at him the road bully said he could harm him and the woman in his car.

He said it was this threat that prompted him to lodge a police report.

The driver took a photograph of the car registration number of the road bully and handed it to the police when he lodged a report.

Information led the police to the suspect’s house, and when they found he was not there they went to his new house.

When the police arrived, the suspect and his family members were in the midst of breaking fast.

The police failed to find the gun in the house while the suspect denied he had used a gun on the driver, saying he did not have a gun.
