KUALA LUMPUR: Japanese midfielder Shinji Kagawa will lead a star-studded Borussia Dortmund side against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) in the first ever international friendly between the two clubs at the Larkin Stadium in Johor today.

Kagawa, a former Manchester United player is among 27 players listed by the eight-time German Bundesliga champions for the Malaysian chapter of the German side’s 2015 Asian Tour, after crushing Japan J-League side Kawasaki Frontale 6-0 in their first pre-season match.

The German side delivered a dominating performance to win the match in front of 24,650 enthusiastic fans at a sold-out Todoroki Stadium on Tuesday, where Kagawa and Pierre-
Emerick Aubameyang each scored a brace, with the other goals coming from Maruoka and Stankovic.

Dortmund arrived in Singapore yesterday for the second stop of their Asia Tour.

They will head for Johor Baharu today for the meet-and-greet session with Malaysian fans.

“They are expected to see action against JDT in front of about 30,000 fans in the match which starts at 9.45pm tomorrow.

“The match is held following a collaboration between JDT and BVB with a 2014 ground-breaking development partnership,” JDT said in a statement.

The deal will see both sides sharing coaching and training information and exchanging players in the future toward developing youth football in Johor. —Bernama
