KOTA KINABALU: Petronas yesterday contributed RM3 million to the State Disaster Relief Fund for victims of the earthquake that hit Ranau on June 5.

Its president and group chief executive officer, Datuk Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, handed over a mock cheque to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Hj Aman

at Seri Gaya, the official residence of the Chief Minister.

Present at the ceremony were State Secretary Tan Sri Sukarti Wakiman, who is also the

State Disaster Relief and Management Committee chairman, Petronas Sabah and

Labuan chairman Mohamed Firouz Asnan as well as Petronas senior general manager of Group Strategic Communications, Liz Kamaruddin.

“The company’s management and staff are deeply saddened by the earthquake that

resulted in loss of lives, livelihood and damage to properties,” said Zulkiflee.

“Part of this contribution will be channeled to the mountain guides and others whose lives have been affected by the tragedy,” he added.

This contribution is in addition to the RM5 million that Petronas presented in aid of

flood relief efforts carried out by the State Disaster Relief and Management Committee in April last year.
