KUCHING: The Housing Ministry will try to get allocations under the 11th Malaysia Plan to build more houses of worship in housing areas in the state.

Its Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg said the ministry was working hard to ensure each housing area under the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Scheme had a house of worship.

“We will try to get more allocations from the federal government under the 11th Malaysia Plan to build more houses of worship in every housing area under HDC and for housing projects in Muara Tuang and Samariang,” Abang Johari said.

He made this statement during a breaking of fast dinner organised by HDC and Daya Builders Sdn Bhd (DBSB) with Kuching Division Journalists Association (KDJA) at Merdeka Palace on Friday night.

During the event, Abang Johari handed over contributions amounting to RM10,000 to 20 mosques and suraus under the HDC scheme.

“I hope that this contribution can help the administrators of mosques and suraus manage them well and to carry out activities,” Abang Johari added.

Present at the breaking of fast were Assistant Minister of Housing Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Pantai Damai assemblyman Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi and other distinguished guests.
