MIRI: Sarawak Energy Berhad (Sesco) auxiliary police (AP) personnel on Friday night arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly attempting to break into its substation in Kuala Baram.

The suspect was booked and sent to Miri Central Police Station (CPS) on suspicion of burglary and attempted burglary. Miri acting police chief, Supt Stanley Jonathan Ringgit confirmed the arrest to thesundaypost.

“The arrest was made around 9.15pm by two Sesco auxiliary police personnel patrolling the area that night,” he said.

Stanley credited the two personnel for their swift action which prevented the burglary.

“It’s exactly this sort of partnership between the police and the auxiliary police we hope to see and strengthen,” added Stanley. That night, the AP personnel also seized the suspect’s 4WD, an iron cutter and a machete. Further investigation at the scene found the back fence of the substation building cut and the control room of the premises ajar.
