Diverse ethnics, unity pillar of country’s strength

KOTA KINABALU: The pillar of Malaysia’s strength lies in the diverse ethnics and religions of its people who are united, said Society Empowerment and Economic Development of Sabah (Seeds) chief executive officer Dr Arnold Puyok.

He said the strength should be preserved for the sake of future generations.

“That strength should be preserved if Malaysia is to be truly developed and stable, politically, economically and socially.

“Therefore, the understanding among the various religions and races should be maintained forever,” he said after the breaking-of-fast with Seeds here on Saturday.

He said one of the ways to instill awareness and spirit of unity was to encourage understanding and respect for one another in the country’s plural society.

“Like at this (breaking-of-fast) event, we invite friends from all religions and through this we hope to share experience and build the acceptance for other religions,” he added. — Bernama
