MIRI: The newly established Sibuti Bavarian’s Football Club is collaborating with the service office of N.61 Bekenu state assemblywoman to organise a nine-a-side tournament for the YB Rosey Yunus Challenge Trophy. The tournament will be held from Aug 29-31, in conjunction with this year’s Malaysia Day celebrations

“We are looking forward to the first event organised by the club to help produce talented football players from the rural areas,” Early Childhood Education and Family Development assistant minister Rosey Yunus said at a press conference at Dynasty Hotel here on Saturday.

Rosey, who is also the club patron, added that the competition grounds will be the football fields of Subis District Council and Kampung Selanyau, Bekenu.

Organisers are targetting 40 and six teams for the men’s and women’s categories respectively. The entry fee of RM200 per team must be paid latest by the draw at 2pm on Aug 23.

Prize details for the top three teams and individual winners will be announced later.
