KUCHING: The family of two-month-old Louis Chia Jia Hong is appealing for donations to help foot medical bills and other costs for the baby’s heart surgery in Kuala Lumpur.

Louis was born with a hole in his heart – a condition that immediately required him to undergo surgery, which had been scheduled this Thursday at the National Heart Institute in the nation’s capital. His mother Marrylyn Lim Chin Wei said the family came totally unprepared when informed of the news.

According to her, the surgery alone would cost around RM50,000.

“The need to operate was so sudden; we were not prepared with that amount of money. As such, we appeal to the public to help us with the expenses as our priority is to ensure that Louis would go through the operation without any problem,” she said.

Louis is currently at Bintulu Hospital and he is being flown to Kuala Lumpur today, accompanied by Lim and his grandmother Lily Tiong. Those wishing to donate can contact Lim at 012-8899251, or Tiong at 010-8185346.
