Ten Filipinos held for illegal entry

SEMPORNA: Ten Filipino men were detained by the marine police for illegal entry into the state in the waters off Semporna port yesterday.

Sabah marine police commander ACP Mohamad Madun said those arrested were between 17 to 59 years old after they failed to show any valid identification documents.

He said in the first case marine police conducting Ops Selamat Laut at the Semporna port area, stopped a passenger boat about 8.20am and detained two men, aged 33 and 59 years old, after they failed to show valid identification documents.

About 8.40 am, another passenger boat was stopped and checked and a 30-year-old man was apprehended after he could not produce identification document.

An hour later in the same area, a fishing boat was stopped and checked and seven men, aged between 17 to 59 years-old, were arrested after they failed to show valid identification document.

Mohamad Madun said the Ops Selamat was conducted in conjunction with the Hari Raya.
