KUCHING: The open house hosted by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem and wife Datin Patinggi Dato Jamilah Anu on the first day of Hari Raya attracted more than 10,000 well-wishers
People from all walks of life including representatives of various non-governmental organisations (NGOs) were seen queuing up outside the main hall of BCCK before 10am although Adenan and Jamilah were only expected to arrive after 10.30am.
The hall was divided into two sections — VIP and general public. A perfect setting for photographs was reserved on the right near the entrance where Adenan and Jamilah received the dignitaries and well-wishers.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu, Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan, Housing Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg and Minister of Infrastructure Development and Communications Dato Sri Michael Manyin were among the state cabinet members who came.
Other dignitaries included State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohd Morshidi Abdul Ghani, Speaker Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar and Deputy Speaker Datuk Roland Sagah, presidents of all state Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties Senator Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian (SUPP), Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing (SPDP),Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Masing (PRS), Minister of Local Government and Community Development Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh and Minister of Social Development Tan Sri William Mawan.
DAP elected representatives and members led by their chairman Chong Chieng Jen, who is also Bandar Kuching MP and Kota Sentosa assemblyman, also came.
President of Sarawak Workers Party (SWP) Larry Sng together with his party staff also came for a visit.
NGOs that added colour to the open house included the Youth Movements Malaysia, Federation of Kuching and Samarahan Divisions Chinese Associations and Kuching Chinese Community Leaders Association.
