Participants sign a banner to show their support for the gathering
MIRI: Hundreds of people from all walks of life gathered at Miri City Council’s (MCC) field here yesterday in support of the 52nd Sarawak Independence Day Rally organised by Sarawak for Sarawakians (S4S).
The participants could be seen carrying their respective banners, flags and placards as they walked from Marina Bay to the field.
In her opening speech, organising secretary Hanim Jaree said that the Sarawak Independence Day which falls on July 22 should be acknowledged by all as it is a very important part of history.
“Today is a special gathering for Mirians who may not be able to go to Kuching for the gathering on July 22,” she said.
Hanim also congratulated the organising team for making the event a success and the police for ensuring the event ran smoothly.
Among the activities held were a Zumba dance demonstration and live band performances to entertain the crowd.
