BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Istana Nurul Iman was flooded by visitors from as early as 8am. The people were excited to greet His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri as well as members of the Royal Household, to convey Hari Raya greetings and personally express thanks to Their Majesties. The open Istana during Hari Raya Aidil Fitri was a golden opportunity that was both significant and pleasant not only to Bruneians but also to expatriates working and living in the country and others on holiday here. The open days gave them the opportunity to say Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Fitri and convey their heartfelt thanks.

Visitors or guests among the tourists also expressed their happiness at the opportunity of not just visiting Istana Nurul Iman but also receiving a special welcome and treatment from the palace.

Excellent management and hospitality were important in ensuring that visitors to Istana Nurul Iman were well treated and enjoyed their experience as the Monarch’s guests.

All the visitors returned home with souvenirs and there were small packets for children. The open Istana was a symbol of His Majesty’s and the Royal Family’s open hearts in welcoming the people of Brunei and foreign visitors.

His Majesty’s friendliness during the junjung ziarah was a bridge that joined the hearts of the Monarch and the people as they celebrated Hari Raya Aidil Fitri together. For some of the visitors it was a very pleasant surprise to be greeted by the Monarch in person.
