KUCHING: Chinese independent secondary school management boards have been asked to visit their counterparts in Sabah so that both parties can learn from each other.

Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president Senator Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian said in order to develop Chinese independent schools and Chinese-medium education, management boards need new ideas to implement systems that are up to date.

Dr Sim said this during the earth-breaking ceremony for a running track at Chung Hua Primary School No. 5 yesterday.

On upgrading facilities, he said SUPP would do its best to support Chinese-medium education in all areas as its success is the common goal.

He pointed out that Chinese-medium education also caters to non-Chinese students.

Dr Sim added that Chinese-medium tertiary education should also be on offer to complete the Chinese-medium education system in the state, calling for improvements from the policy-making stage.

He also said that school boards of management should restructure Chinese-medium primary schools, especially those with
low populations in rural areas.
