KUCHING: Mukah MP Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Leo Michael Toyad Abdullah has been appointed Malaysian Furniture Promotion Council (MFPC) chairman and Board of Trustees member.

His term, which came into effect on July 1, will run until Dec 31, 2016.

Dr Toyad was first elected to Parliament in 1982.

In 1987, he was appointed as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and in 2004, he was appointed Minister of Tourism.

MFPC said in a statement yesterday that it is very honoured to have Dr Toyad as its fifth chairman and hoped to benefit largely from his guidance and counsel.

Chief executive officer Sarimah Mohamad Sabudin warmly welcomed him to the MFPC family on behalf of the Board of Trustees and staff.
