Pakistani duo deny hurting man at petrol station

KOTA KINABALU: Two foreigners pleaded not guilty before the Magistrates Court here yesterday to a joint charge of causing hurt to a local man.

Atif Khan Mohabhat Khan, 23 and Abdullah Majeedulah, 24, were charged before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbey with causing injuries to Mohamad Khairul Ikwan at a petrol station in Jalan Kepayan, Tanjung Aru about 1pm on July 15.

The two Pakistani nationals’ joint charge comes under Section 324/34 Penal Code for causing hurt using dangerous weapon.

The offence carries a jail term of not more than three years or a fine or both upon conviction.

Stephanie released Atif on bail of RM8,000 with two local sureties and also ordered that his international passport be impounded with the court, apart from reporting himself to the investigating office once every two weeks.

The magistrate extended Abdullah’s remand order under Section 259 of the Criminal Code for not having valid documents.

The court fixed Aug 25 for mention of the case.

Both accused were represented by Defence Counsel Alex Lee while Chief Inspector Lim Swee Beng prosecuted the case.
