GEORGE TOWN: The High Court here yesterday set Sept 9 to decide on a judicial review by former Penang PAS treasurer Iszuree Ibrahim against the State Executive Council’s decision in dismissing him of all posts in the Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) and freezing his allocation,.

Judicial Commissioner Collin Lawrence Sequerah set the date in chambers in the presence of lawyers Mohd Haris Abdullah, representing Iszuree; RSN Rayer for the Penang State Executive Council (state exco) and the state government, and Dominic Pillai, appearing for MPPP, now known as the Penang City Council (MBPP).

Mohd Haris, when met by reporters, said the court ordered all parties to submit their written submission next month.

Iszuree , who is now Penang PAS Liaison secretary, filed the application on Nov 14 last year, naming the state exco, MBPP and the Penang state government as first, second, and third respondent.

He is seeking an order to invalidate the second respondent’s letter, dated Sept 29, 2014, and a decision made by the first respondent on Sept 25, 2014, in removing him from all posts in the MPPP’s permanent committees and freezing his allocation.

He is also seeking to invalidate MPPP’s letter dated Sept 29, 2014 and the first respondent’s decision on Sept 25, 2014, to disallow him from attending the respondents’ ad hoc meetings.

Should the court allow the application, Iszuree wants an interim order to suspend the first respondent’s decision which was conveyed to him through two letters, dated Sept 26 and Sept 29, by the second respondent until the substantive motion is heard.

He is seeking damages and other relief deemed fit by the court. — Bernama
