KUCHING: Some 3,000 well-wishers thronged the hall of the old State Legislative Assembly Complex (DUN) for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house hosted by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Nancy Shukri, yesterday.

The hall was already jam-packed with people from all walks of life even before the arrival of Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and his wife Toh Puan Ragad Kurdi Taib at about 11am.

Among the local dignitaries at the open house were Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim, Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Bumiputera Entrepreneur Development) and Assistant Minister for Resource Planning Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais and Sadong Jaya assemblyman Aidel Lariwoo.

A couple of performers showcased their talents during the festive gathering as

dignitaries and guests including foreigners helped themselves to food and beverages including Sarawak laksa and ABC as well as cookies, cakes and snacks.

Tables were set in the middle of the hall and none of the seats were empty. Many of those present, both young and old, could be seen savouring the food.

Many guests took the opportunity to have group photos taken with Nancy at a designated picture-taking area outside the hall.
