KUCHING: A woman’s wish to attend a gathering in Kampung Lintang was dashed when her face was injured in an explosion believed to have been caused by a firecracker.

The victim was said to have been walking to the village hall when an object, believed to be a firework, struck her in the right cheek and caused bleeding.

The victim was then rushed to the Red Zone of Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for treatment.

The cause of the incident is unknown.

Meanwhile, a senior citizen suffered light injuries when he was hit by a car along Jalan Pending yesterday.

The pedestrian was crossing the road around 11am yesterday when the car failed to avoid him, thus knocking into him.

He was rushed to SGH to receive treatment.

In a separate case, an Indonesian was found lying by the road in Siburan along the Kuching-Serian Road yesterday morning.

The victim was said to have been left by the roadside after being attacked by four men.

He was taken to SGH by the Civil Defence Department ambulance for treatment.
