KUCHING: SMK Green Road softball team – the Green Hornets – are eyeing their new Parents-Teacher’s Association (PTA) line-up for support for their further development.

This is according to the teacher and team manager Juraimie Junaidi who said most of the new PTA committee members are staunch supporters of the team and softball.

“We the teachers involved in softball at SMK Green Road have convinced the parents that softball can bring development to the school and their children. I think it is safe to say that we are one of the prestigious softball academies for the state,” he added.

He also thanked the previous committee members who had been very supportive during their tenure.

“Their support has been tremendous. We hope that they will continue to support the team,” he said.

The team will also miss school principal Putit Ped who will be retiring in October.

It was during his time in the school that softball development has been rising rapidly.

Juraimie also spoke of the many softball-related programmes all year round in the school.

Recently, Brunei Darusalam-based softball team Black Arrows paid a visit to the school.

Former Brunei national player Pengiran Omarali Pengiran Amat and Mohammad Zulhalini Mohd Alias conducted a coaching clinic on Jul 25.

The Green Hornets, Juraimie revealed, are also in dire need of sponsors to buy softball equipment.

He called on sponsors to contact the school.
