KUALA LUMPUR: Private hospitals in the country are urged to provide quality service to protect the image of the nation. Malaysian Muslim Consumers Association (PPIM) chief activist, Datuk Nadzim Johan said PPIM had received many complaints against private hospitals here, especially from Indonesian, Arab and Bangladeshi tourists who came here for medical tourism. “To date, we have received more than 50 complaints nationwide including from those coming for medical tourism using private hospital services in the country.

“Generally, they came to voice their dissatisfaction at the services provided such as negligence, exorbitant charges, incorrect treatments and surgeries,” he said. According to Nadzim, private hospitals should not merely prioritise profits without regards for the nation. To bring back the public’s faith in private hospital services, Nadzim urged the government to identify a method to boost the quality of services by the private hospital concerned. — Bernama
