MIRI: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) members from Miri, Lambir, Pujut and Senadin divisions visited injured pupil Joachim Belisan Mandu at Miri Hospital yesterday for a second time.

The Primary 6 pupil from a Long Lama school was allegedly abused by his teacher from Kedah.

PRS Supreme Council member and PRS Lambir chairman Pandang Semat criticised the teacher for resorting to aggression while supposedly moulding his pupils to become productive and law-abiding citizens.

“The teacher must not advocate corporal punishment, even if the pupils fail to complete their work. Teachers must be professional in handling matters such as this and show good examples to their pupils,” he said.

PRS Pujut chairman David Stephen also slammed the teacher’s actions.

“How can a boy of that age stand the brutal and heinous act?” he questioned.

He said PRS would monitor the case closely and let justice take its course.
