Be wary of militant group, students told

PENGKALAN HULU: Perak police yesterday advised students to be wary of the so-called IS militant group, which has been active in recruiting new members, especially among youths, via the social media.

Its chief, Datuk Osman Saleh, said the group was found to have intensified efforts to spread its ideology using the latest technology, even though the authorities were doing their level best to combat its activities.

“It is hoped that young people, including students, would be more careful and not be easily influenced by the IS ideology to the extent of joining the group.

“They should also be wary of the various information they found in the social media, which could affect their

future as well as national security,” he said when officiating at the closing of Police Cadet Corps’ Camp here yesterday.

A total of 300 Police Cadet Corps members from all secondary schools in Perak participated in the camp, which began on July 26. — Bernama
