KOTA SAMARAHAN: The second edition of the Sarawak Senior Amateur Masters Golf Championship, which will be held at Samarahan Country Club (SCC) this year, has attracted the participation of 136 golfers.
Among the top contenders in the event from Aug 1-2 are Sarawak Senior Golfers Society of Sarawak president Ting Kuok Ing and Sarawak Golf Association (SGA) president Hoan Kee Hock.
Participating clubs are Kelab Golf Sarawak, Bintulu Golf Club, Miri Golf Club, Damai Golf and Country Club, Sarawak Junior Golf First Association, Sibu Golf Club, SCC and also participants from Sabah and Pantai Mentiri of Brunei.
Sanctioned by SGA, the championship is open to all senior golfers aged 55 years old and above on Aug 1, 2015 with a current NHS index of 33.2 (Handicap 36).
The championship will be decided by stroke play over two rounds of 18 holes and the overall champion will be awarded with the challenge trophy donated by Datuk Mohamad Amin Satem.
There will be 10 prizes for gross categories and eight for prizes for net categories as well as hole-in-one prizes worth RM5,000 for every Par 3.
Other categories of prizes will include age category group winners and daily individual gross and nett winners.
More than 40 prizes sponsored by Transview Golf, Choice World Supermarket and Tanahmas Hotel, Sibu are offered for the lucky draw.
Along with this tournament, the Senior Golfers Society of Sarawak will be doing a membership drive and those who have not registered can do so during the tournament.
