Adenan names Nangka incumbent as BN candidate in coming state polls

SIBU: Nangka incumbent Dr Annuar Rapaee will be renominated to defend the state seat under the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the
coming state election, which is expected to be held by June next year.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem made the brief announcement at the Sibu division Hari Raya Aidilfitri gathering here last night.

“I forgot to mentin earlier, BN candidate for Nangka seat is Annuar,” Adenan, who is also state BN chairman and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) president said when speaking at the function.

Nangka is the only bumiputera majority state seat in Sibu town that is represented by PBB.

Annuar, 52, a cardiologist won the seat for the first time in the last state election in May 2011 when he defeated Norisham Mohamed Ali (PKR) with a 5,302-majority vote.

In his speech, Annuar urged the community in Sibu to give their undivided support to BN candidates in the coming state polls. -Bernama
