KUCHING: A local ‘Datin’ has lodged a police report, claiming that her handbag was stolen at a church near Jalan Padungan here on Friday night.

It is believed that the incident happened around 7.30pm when she and other parishioners were in the middle of a prayer session.

A family member of the victim said she had only just stood up when she turned to her side and saw her handbag missing.

After the alarm was raised, another churchgoer spoke of seeing a heavyset, dark-skinned man running out of the church while clutching the handbag.

“He sped off on a motorcycle,” the witness said.

In her police report, the Datin said among the contents of her bag were some cash, a mobile phone and credit cards.

Police are investigating.
