KUALA LUMPUR: The government will support anyone who is appointed as chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said this was because the government did not want to be seen as favouring anyone or interfering in the appointment of the PAC chairman or the other committee members.

“If Tan Sri Annuar Musa is appointed, we will give our endorsement for his appointment, and he is truly qualified.

“But if other people or personality (is appointed), we will also give our support,” he told reporters after officiating the Kepong Wanita Umno Delegates meeting here yesterday.

He was commenting on the rumours that the chairman of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) would be appointed as PAC chairman, taking over from Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed who was appointed deputy home minister in the recent cabinet reshuffle.
