PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said today he wants members of the Cabinet and national administration to move forward in focusing on improving the people’s welfare, economy and social aspects as well as restoring public confidence in the government.

He said that after the recent Cabinet reshuffle, there was a need to do a lot with priority given to the people, and more so on reducing the burden of the cost of living in all aspects.

“We have to keep asking ourselves all the time what the people’s needs are. People are concerned about putting food on the table, which simply means cost of living, affordable housing, employment, government services and so on,” he said when addressing the monthly assembly of the Prime Minister’s Department here.

Najib said this was outlined in the national transformation policy and it was emphasised in the 11th Malaysia Plan (2015-2020), especially in terms of doubling within the next five years the income of the B40 (bottom 40 per cent) households which now earn an average monthly income of RM2,537.

“We should not lose our direction, nor our focus,” he said. — BERNAMA
