MIRI: A 34-year-old man was seriously injured after he was allegedly attacked by a group of Indonesians on Sunday evening.

The victim was found lying by the roadside near Lambir here around 7pm by passers-by, who contacted the police for assistance.

He was covered with blood when found and there were visible wounds on several parts of his body.

The man was first thought to be a victim of a hit-and-run accident but later, he claimed that he had been attacked by a group of Indonesians.

He is believed to have been slashed with a machete which caused serious injuries to his head, foot and body.

An ambulance rushed the victim to Miri Hospital.

The victim is reported to be in critical condition.

Police are investigating the case under Section 326 of the Penal Code.
