Madius, Nogeh sworn in as minister, deputy minister

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau yesterday took his oath of office as the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation before Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah at Istana Negara here.

The swearing-in took place at the Bilik Singgahsana Kecil (Small Throne Room) of the palace at noon.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and several other Cabinet ministers were present at the function.

Nogeh Gumbek also took his oath of office as a deputy minister. Nogeh said he was expected to be informed of his portfolio tomorrow.

Madius and Nogeh signed the instrument of oath and secrecy before Chief Justice Tun Arifin Zakaria and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa.

Madius told Bernama after the event that he was thankful to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for his confidence in him.

He pledged to give undivided support to Najib’s leadership and implement the government agenda.

Nogeh also thanked the prime minister for having appointed him as a deputy minister.
